Oregano (Origanum vulgare), also known as wild marjoram, is an indispensable ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine. In the Middle Ages, it was said to offer protection against devils and witches.
Oregano is one of the “herbes de Provence” and is now also a popular culinary herb in Switzerland. It makes a great addition to pizza and almost any kind of pasta dish.
Oregano is special because, unlike other herbs, it does not lose its flavour when dried. This is why it is often found as a finely chopped, dried herb in kitchen cupboards throughout Switzerland.
Oregano should be stored at fridge temperature.
