Red Chard (Beta vulgaris var. Cicla), also known as Swiss chard or leaf beet, can be found throughout the whole of Europe as well as in Asia Minor and India. Even the Romans were familiar with chard and used it together with common mallow to make a laxative soup. It is perfectly safe to consume by itself.
Red Chard can be eaten raw in a salad, cooked like beet greens or made into a soup. It is rich in magnesium and vitamins A and K.
What many people don’t know is that chard helps to get rid of the smell of garlic, whether it’s on your breath or on your hands.
Red Chard should be stored at fridge temperature.
