Savory (Satureja montana) is cultivated in Central Europe, as it does not grow there naturally. Savory has long been used as a mental and physical stimulant. It is even reputed to possess aphrodisiacal properties. It also helps to make legumes, and heavy game-based meals for instance, feel lighter.
In a culinary setting, savory is commonly used to season meat and sausage products. Its flavour is at its best when the savory is ground and added just before cooking.
Savory should be stored at fridge temperature.
